PDR - Paintless Dent Removal
Using a technique developed by automotive manufacturers, PDR works from
behind the vehicle exterior to repair damage without sanding, painting, or
body fillers. The innovative PDR process uses specialized hand tools to
manipulate and flex metal back to its original form.
PDR Advantage - Quality
The biggest advantage is quality. With PDR you get a repair that is closer to the
dent never happening. There is no evasive grinding, sanding, filling wholes
with Bondo, primers or repainting. Your original factory paint job is not
impacted. You may avoid potential issues in the future where fillers shrink and
the traditional repair becomes obvious.
PDR Advantage - Cost
The cost and time of repair using PDR versus traditional body repairs can be
significant factors. Typical cost for a minor dent using traditional body repairs
can be several hundred dollars. With PDR the same repair can usually be done
for less than a hundred dollars. With PDR a simple dent can be repaired in
about an hour or two. Using traditional body repair methods may take several
days or weeks due to sanding, and drying times for Bondo and paint.
PDR Solution for All Dents?
No. PDR provides an excellent solution for minor dings, dents and especially
hail damage. But PDR is not the solution for all body damage. The biggest
factor in determining if PDR is the right solution is depth and location of the
dent. Evan larger dents, the size of a dinner plate, can be fixed if not too deep.
Small dents that are very deep are not a candidate for PDR. If the paint is
cracked the dent may be too deep. While the majority of minor dings and
dents can be repaired with PDR a professional can help with your particular
situation.
